Rev. Scott Adams

Rev. W. Scott Adams was born in Shreveport in 1958 into the family of an Air Force pilot and lived in Bossier City the first six years of his life. Both of his parents were from Louisiana, and the family joined 1st UM Bossier City, and remained members while moving all over the world in the Air Force. His father retired in Bossier City and served as the director of the Chamber of Commerce, and a one term city councilman. Scott's mother, Dorothy Adams is widowed and lives in Bossier City. Scott graduated from Airline High School in 1976, Northwestern State University in 1981, and Asbury Theological Seminary in 1987. He served three appointments as a pastor in Louisiana before being selected for active duty in the Air Force as a chaplain in 1994. His 11 years on active duty included trips to the war on terror with Air Force Special Operations, and selection to attend a masters degree program in Marriage and Family therapy at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Scott left active duty in July of 2005 to serve as the executive pastor at St Timothy UM Church in Mandeville, LA and joined the staff of Asbury as Senior pastor in January of 2009. He also continues his service to his country as a Lt Colonel and Wing Chaplain at the 917th Reserve Wing at Barksdale. Scott married the former Nancy Pool from Memphis in 1983 and they have two sons, Ross and Mitchell. Ross is working on a degree in Landscape Architecture at LSU Baton Rouge. Mitchell recently graduate Air Force basic training and is now training to be a Special Forces Combat Controller.
